Important Dates
- Due: Conclusions Nov. 17
- Due: Posters Nov 28
- Present projects in class Nov 30
- Class winners will be invited to the ELM science fair on Dec. 5th after school
Final Step-Present your findings

- Students will have 2 hours of class time to work on the posters the week of Nov 13th
- See some examples HERE
Step 5: Present your research Due Nov. 3
Helpful links
- Using your research slides (looks like THIS) write 2 page research report on your general science fair topic with a works cited.
- This should be typed, double spaced, and in 12 point font. If you change your topic, you must redo the report.
- This report is not a description of what you are going to do. It is a presentation of generalized background information on your topic.
- You must also include a works cited where you found the information (minimum of 3 sources).

Step 4-Organize you experiment
Hypothesis, Procedure, set up data tables Due SEPTEMBER 14
Document HERE
1. Write your problem in the form of a question. Ex. How does the height of the ramp affect the speed of a car?
2. Write your hypothesis based on what you think will happen . (Answer you problem) Ex. If the ramp is higher, then the car will go faster.
3. Write your procedure with enough detail that someone could follow the directions and get the same results.
4. Draw your data tables at the back of your notebook.
Your teacher will check your data table to see if you are ready to collect the correct type of data. Data tables must have titles, columns, and rows clearly labeled. Use metric units. Once this is set up you are ready to start your project and collect data.
**Remember to take photographs of your project (using your iPad) and to write detailed notes/observations in your spiral (science fair section).

Step 3: Research your experiment
Research Due: September 8
This will be a google slides presentation with 5-10 slides, each containing facts about your topic. You will have time in class to complete your research and the presentation notes. Be sure to include your site sources on the bottom of each slide.

*Report and Bibliography will be worked on after fall break
Step 2-Plan your experiment
Proposal Form Due: August 29 Tuesday
This is a form signed by a parent or guardian that sets out the problem statement, materials, and procedures for your project. (What are you going to test and how are you going to test it?) The proposal form is available below. Partners have a special "partner version" that must be signed.
Complete the form below and with an adult signature and submit it to Jupiter.

Write 3 different ideas that you are considering for your project
- Identify the Independent variable and the Dependent variable
- It should be written as: "What is the effect of __________ on ____________?
- Do NOT use the word "Best" in your question.
- If you want to do an engineering project-
- What are you going to design? What is its purpose? How will you know if it worked?
- Write your ides on p.1 in the science fair section of your notebook.
