Design Document- Captain Science Gravity

Script:
Scene: logo
Narrator: Here we are for another exciting adventure of Captain Science.
Scene: Park
Narrator: Today we find Captain Science out walking in the park.
Captain Science: My Susie you look a little sad.
Susie: Oh hi Captain Science I feel like something is bringing me down
CS: Well Gravity brings us all down.
S: It does?
CS: Sure, haven’t you noticed the leaves falling from the trees?
S: Well yea
CS: That’s gravity bringing them down.
Scene: Outer space
CS: Gravity is a force that pulls things together and we and everything else on Earth towards the center.
S: But what about astronauts they just look like they’re floating in space.
CS: Well that’s because gravity depends on mass. The Earth is very massive so it pulls us towards it; but gravity also depends on distance.
The astronauts are way out in space so they are too far away to feel the gravitational pull of the Earth.
S: I see that, but how do you measure gravity?
Scene: scale
CS: Well have you weighed yourself lately?
S: why do you ask?
CS: Well because your weight is the force of gravity and weight will change if the force of gravity changes.
Scene: Outer space
S: Wait let me see if I got this straight. So weight is the measurement of the force of gravity. So that means that astronauts out in space don’t feel any gravity and have a weight of zero.
CS: Exactly, but the even cooler thing is that even tough their weight is zero; their mass, what they are made of, stays the same. If they are 50 kg on Earth then they’ll be 50 kg out in space.
S: Wait, I’m confused. I thought they weighed zero.
CS: They do weigh zero Newtons but because there’s no gravity pulling on them. But mass is how much stuff something is made of and that’s not going to change no matter where you go.
Scene: Park
S: So gravity really is bringing me down, and my ice cream too.
CS: Well we can’t change gravity but more ice cream, that’s not a problem.
